Step 01: Make it burst with flowers
There’s no way we could start with anything but flowers. It’s entirely up to you whether you opt for real or faux flowers, but personally I think a combination yields the best result. Placing good quality artificial flowers in the same room as real ones can fool the eye into seeing them all as real. If you don’t want to commit to the upkeep of constantly buying new flowers though, the ones I’ve chosen below are good quality enough to work on their own.

Step 02: Balance the decor
Even when we’re going for floral maximalism, we don’t need to be too on the nose about it. Of course, some decor will be flower themed, but it’s important to balance that with some that isn’t. Rather than everything having flowers on it, lets pad out the overtly floral decor with items that are floral-adjacent, or complement the overall theme.
Step 03: Interpret the theme into the furniture
Much like with the decor, the last thing I want to be doing here is filling this room with overstuffed floral-patterned armchairs. Instead, when it comes to furniture, I’m going to suggest looking for items that represent the vibe. Think of a few words that describe flowers – for example, pretty, lively, feminine, delicate – and then look for furniture which captures this feeling, rather than just anything that’s flower-patterned.
Step 04: Make a few upgrades
I always try to make my guides renter-friendly and this one is no exception. Peel & stick mouldings are an incredibly easy way of elevating an entire room and giving it that French-provincial or cottage feel. And did you know you don’t need to buy a whole new bedframe in order to have a coveted four-poster? Just buy the posts!
Step 05: Add some details
This step is optional… kind of. Details aren’t essential but they are important. They’re the small pieces that you don’t see when you first walk into a room, but that reveal themselves the longer you’re in there, and which tie the larger pieces of a theme together. Here’s a few I’ve chosen for this makeover:
Step 06: The atmosphere
Florals demand one obvious ingredient we haven’t covered yet: Floral scents! There are so many ways to introduce home fragrances into your space, from reed diffusers to humidifiers with essential oils, to scented candles, and I’ve collected a few of the very best here.

If you’ve ever dreamed of waking up in a garden of your own design, I hope these ideas help you on your way to waking up surrounded by soft floral prints, pastel colors, and cozy, textured fabrics that make you feel like you’re in a secret garden. It doesn’t need to break the bank or be an intimidatingly-large project – just a few thoughtful touches can turn your room into a floral dreamscape. Dive in, have fun with it, and let your bedroom blossom into a beautiful sanctuary!
Stay cozy ??
